At Opal Dental, we believe all our West Auckland patients should access our services. To make that happen, we accept WINZ payments. Getting a WINZ quote is worth your while, whether you are on a benefit or you have a low income. Although you may not receive a full payment for your treatment, partial payments can go a long way towards making your dental care affordable. If you’ve never tried requesting a WINZ quote before, we’re here to provide you with a brief guide.

Making dentistry affordable when you’re on a low income

WINZ makes dental treatment affordable in a number of ways. Although you’re more likely to qualify if you receive benefits, you can still request a quote when you’re on a low income. Your WINZ quote is likely to be successful when the following criteria apply:

• You or your child are experiencing severe dental pain and we recommend that you seek treatment.
• You are aged 16 or over, a New Zealand resident, and you usually live in New Zealand.
• Your need for dental care is immediate.
• You and your partner earn below a certain amount (if you’re working). This can vary according to who you live with, your age, and the number of dependents you have.
• Your assets are below the defined amount.

If your quote request is approved, it will fall under one of the following categories:

• Urgent dental treatment of up to $300.
• Essential dental treatment will vary according to your financial circumstances.
• Approval for dental treatment at your local hospital using a community services card.

Payments that are simple

Once your dental payment has been approved, you’ll receive a card that contains the pre-agreed amount. After the card has been loaded, you’ll be given three days to pay us via this card. In the event that you receive a partial payment, you’ll need to pay for the remainder of your dental care using other methods.
