Dental Crowns & Bridges

Restoring your smile with dental crowns and bridges

Following damage to your teeth and tooth extractions, crowns and bridges can restore your smile. Using the latest technologies and materials, we’ll protect your teeth and help you maintain them for longer.

At Opal Dental, patients from throughout Auckland come to us for their crowns and bridges. We offer our treatments in a safe clinical environment where your wellbeing is prioritised.

Crowns that keep your existing teeth safe

There are lots of reasons for having crowns, but the two main ones are:

  1. You’ve recently undergone a root canal.
  2. You’ve damaged your teeth through a chip or crack.

Your crown will act like a cap that protects your existing tooth. It can prevent further damage, allowing you to hold onto your natural teeth for longer. To ensure we maintain your aesthetic appearance, we’ll try to match the colour of your crown to your surrounding teeth.

Some of the other reasons for using dental crowns include:

  • Replacing a large filling with a more stable structure
  • Preventing a weak tooth from fracturing
  • Restoring your tooth following a fracture
  • As a precursor for attaching your dental bridge
  • To mask the appearance of a discoloured tooth
  • To give a misshapen tooth a better shape
  • To cover your dental implant

Bridges that replace your missing teeth

When you’re missing one or more teeth, life becomes challenging in several ways. Some people experience a drop in confidence. Additionally, missing teeth increase your risk of damage to surrounding teeth, they make gum disease more likely, and they can make it hard to form words.

Bridges act as the perfect solution to all the problems above. Unlike a denture that needs to be removed at night time, a bridge is a fixed solution that fills the gap where your teeth are missing. As a result, your risk of experiencing the problems above drops and your confidence increases.

Undergoing crown & bridges treatment

It usually takes at least two appointments to fit crowns and bridges. In addition to creating a space for your crown, your dentist will need to take an impression of the space where it will fit. Using a combination of impressions and x-rays, the lab technicians that work with Opal Dental create crowns & bridges that fit snugly and protect our patients’ oral health.

If you want to discuss crowns and bridges with us, you can look for an appointment using our online booking system.Alternatively, call 09 834 6359.

Dr Charlene Borges recently replaced a six tooth bridge with a seven tooth bridge on my lower jaw. This incorporates all of my incisors and eye teeth aswell as a pre molar. The new bridge feels and looks amazing. The work is a true testament to Charlenes skill. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of quality dental work.

Thanks Charlene, you're the best.
